The lands north of the Rainlands are unnamed – they are known only as the North, and they are a forbidding place in many respects. All seasons but summer are harder there – the winters in particular cover the mountainous lands with deep snows and thick ice. It is home to the Uttara, an ancient people whose ancestral bond with that land runs deep, and keeps them willing to stay.
Settlements in the north are few and far between. It has no known cities, though its larger settlements are generally friendly with those from the Rainlands, and because of influence of merchants and the Ghyr Marai work to maintain open trade routes from north to south, and in particular across the treacherous Pojh Mountains.
